Your Pal Bill

Two Years

Today is the two-year anniversary of my first day of work! Perhaps it is cliche, but I can't believe it's been that long! Two years in Tillamook? Wow. Last year I made separate entries celebrating the one-year anniversary of moving into my apartment, starting my job, and buying my car. This year we're doing a little consolidation here.

Looking back, I guess a lot hasn't really changed around here. I still live in the same apartment, and drive the same car. However, I did get a promotion! I certainly feel much more comfortable with my job. The amount of dumb questions I have to ask has been reduced to only a few each day. I'm getting to do some of the things I enjoy; I'm pretty much the de facto transportation planner for the county!

The number of miles I put on my car dropped this year. This is due in part to an effort to reduce the number of miles I drive. I think the final number next week will end up being in the 11,000 mile range. This pleases me, although I know that I can do better next year! Part of that would be getting on my bike like I thought I would do last year.

I was just at a meeting where I had to introduce myself to the group and tell them about my OHSU experience and stuff. I actually said, "Hi, I'm Stacy Miller, blah blah blah, I've been with the Cancer Institute for about five and a half years." It freaked me out a bit.

Especially considering that when I picked out my retirement plan, I chose the non-PERS option because I said to myself, "I'll never be here long enough to get vested in PERS."

I introduce myself to people now, and I tell them I have a job.

CRAZY!

Hey Bill,
Since you got that promotion, we need to talk about paving some of the roads around Dana Lane in Pacific City. At least I think they are county roads...I could be wrong. Did appreciate all of your help with the questions I had concerning the zoning.

No, man. Y'all need to *grasscrete* them. No paving! Heh.

I'm afraid that is the realm of the Public Works Department, and they don't have any money. I wouldn't anticipate a paving/grasscreting/repairing of those streets anytime soon, unfortunately.
