The Butterfly Effect
So I was sitting here at about 10:00 at night, thinking I needed to post something here. I had nothing to write. I realized I was bored. I decided to go see a movie. I looked up movie times. At this time of night, out in Beaverton, there aren't a ton of choices. I settled on a 10:35 showing of The Butterfly Effect at the Tigard Cinemas.
Frankly, I was worried about the Ashton Kutcher Effect. I didn't really want to see "Dude, Where's My Butterfly?" But eight dollars later, I settled into my seat, pretty much happy to be doing something. I guess this is the first time I've seen Regal's commercials before the trailers. To state the obvious, it was pretty lame. Although there was one amusing Coke commercial. Homeboy was all showing off his "crib" (his mom's house) and acting like it was all awesome, he had Trevor's favorite wheels on his early-90's econobox, etc. I guess you had to be there.
Anyhoo... uh, the movie was better than I expected. I guess I'm a sucker for those movies that mess with your head. The whole premise of the plot is kind of lame though. Oh, he reads his journal! Well *that* changes everything! I dunno. It was good for a boring Saturday night!
It does tap into a popular theme, though: what would you do differently if you could do it all over again? Or just one thing again? I think about this sometimes. But as in the movies, it is clear that whatever happens in the past has unforseen consequences in the future.
