Camp n' Cannon Beach
I stayed on the coast this weekend, heading to camp on Friday night and staying through Saturday afternoon. I had a chance to walk about and see some of the changes: The new dining hall is coming along, with part of the roof on already. Hopefully the building will be done by summer- the landscaping won't. The new campfire bowl will be interesting. They certainly aren't screwing around- they tore out Shoshone campsite and regraded the whole thing into a steeper bowl than I had imagined. Should be great views from any seat. Still reserving judgement, though. Thunderbird campsite is pretty thrashed, but then again it hasn't been all that great the past few years anyway. It will be nice to have another adironack site, though.
Later on Saturday afternoon, I headed up to Cannon Beach for what we decided was the 4th annual holiday party for some of us who were RAs together my junior year at UO, along with some hangers-on. It was good to see these folks- except for Mike, I don't see them that often. And today was a great day on the beach, the sunlight was low so it seemed like it was late afternoon even though it was 11 in the morning. Looking forward for the days to start getting longer now.
