Stoopid Bill

This morning, I must have left my brain at home, because when I got to work I turned into kind of a bonehead. First, I locked the keys in the county car as I was out making a site visit. Luckily, I had the county cell phone with me, so I could telephone for someone to bring me the extra key. About an hour later, they brought it out to me, and I was able to get into the car and contuniue what I was doing. After that, I headed back to the office and started unpacking all of the things from my little trip. Somehow I has misplaced the keys I had frst locked in the car (I had the replacement ones still) and the cell phone!

I looked all over the car to no avail. Someone else went out and found the keys in the ignition. Yes, I am a freakin' genius. Still, no sign of the cell phone. I backtracked my steps, chatted with nearby neighbors back at the site, and came up empty. Luckily, the county was about to ditch the old-school not-quite-a-brick phone for something newer pretty soon anyway, so I was off the hook for that. Still, I feel like a moron.

So... I'm going to take another week of vacation! Clearly I need it. Not so far-flung this time, In fact I'm not leaving the county. I'm going to volunteer for a week at camp. I haven't spent a week at camp since I worked the summer of 1996! It certainly doesn't feel like it has been that long. Should be relaxing and fun.
