Monday, Fun Day
I took the day off yesterday. In the morning I headed up to OHSU and met up wth Trevor for lunch at an exotic scottish restaurant. We poked around the greater PSU area for a bit, until he had to go back to being a bitter dental student.
Last night I met up with my pal Molly. We had dinner at La Buca, a reasonable italian place on 23rd. After dinner we went to this guy's house to see a presentation by Riverfront For People. It was interesting. Essentially they want to remove the mistakes that are the eastbank freeway and Marquam Bridge. No complaints here! Some of their ideas are... um, forward-looking, but I guess when you have a dream, why not dream big, right? Their plans really focus on the immediate central eastside area, when their proposals would have massive impacts on Brooklyn, the Rose Quarter, the Lloyd District and of course the westside. We're quite a ways away from anything actually happening, but it is good to keep the discussion and ideas flowing. I just wonder how the vision will translate into reality?
